Public benefits

The direct benefit which flows from the educational purposes set out above consists of the increased understanding in the local community of lives and movements which have shaped the society of Ballymena and mid-Antrim. Within the stated purposes of the charity (fundamentally to advance education through Local Studies) assistance, including

financial assistance, may be approved to support relevant publications and/or academic research; No harm is envisaged as resulting from the activities of MAHG; MAHG may support academic research relevant to the area of benefit; Insofar as there have been charges (“fees”) for attendance at events and for procurement of publications of MAHG these have been kept modest and arguably within the range of all. The poor have not therefore been disadvantaged.
