Public benefits
The direct benefits flowing from our purposes include improvements in a child's developmental progress, health and well-being arising out of the provision to preschool leaders of the equipment needed to provide early year’s education and the direct provision of educational, health and well-being and social activities for pre-school children (aged 2
years and ten months to four years). This service can only be provided in a voluntary setting and are provided by a committee of volunteers drawn from the local community who work together to draw in funds. The benefits are evidenced through continual assessments which are given by the staff and the results shared with the parents, feedback from parents, inspections and reports. Some private benefit arises from the service we provide in that from time to time we will provide training in areas including Child Protection and Early Years development and where volunteer students come into the playgroup to gain experience. These are transferable skills which could further their future career opportunities in educating other pre-school children but they do not receive any payment or special treatment. These benefits are incidental and necessary because without training the organization could not deliver its benefit to the general public. The charity's beneficiaries are the children and families connected to the playgroup. The only private benefit flowing from our purpose is the trustee's children quite often attend the playgroup, this is necessary because the playgroup is managed by a committee of parents. The fees of the playgroup are reasonable, open and non-exclusive and there are no anticipated harms arising from our purposes.
What your organisation does
Our organisation is a preschool playgroup which is located in Kilrea. We have places for 24 children and we raise funds to employ one leader and two assistant leaders who are responsible for delivering the pre-school educational play sessions to the children. The preschool playgroup operates one session per day from 12.30 until 3.00pm five days
per week according to the school year. The playgroup is managed by a committee of voluntary trustees who are responsible for fundraising and the management of the playgroup which includes employment issues, child protection and purchase of suitable equipment for play and learning.
