Public benefits

Purpose 1 – To make relevant and innovative provision for young people aged 11-16 years The direct benefits which flow from this purpose includes access to a wide range of activities within the youth club. Young people from disadvantage backgrounds can develop a greater sense of community spirit and citizenship therefore creating a reduction in

Anti social behaviour as a direct result of the positive work being carried out with the young people. These benefits can be demonstrated by the feedback received from members parents and members of the community and statistics obtained from statutory bodies regarding crime and anti social behaviour The beneficiaries of this purpose are initially our membership of young people which in turn provides benefit to their local communities within the Redburn Area. There is no harm flowing from this purpose and no private benefit Purpose 2 – To encourage local support and involvement with training opportunities The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include increased educational and skills of our beneficiaries promoting a better educated and effective youth sector in Holywood. These benefits can be demonstrated through through attendance records, accredited and non accredited courses undertaken, and though our own evaluation processes. The beneficiaries of this purpose are local young people and adults who wish to pursue a career in Youth work. There is no harm flowing from this purpose Although we accept there could be some personal or private benefit derived by individuals (e.g. instance if training helps an individual to find a job) these benefits are incidental to the wider benefit to the public. Purpose 3 – To provide a relevant programme based on the needs of the young people in attendance The direct benefits which flow from this purpose includes programmes and activites that promotes the importance of looking after their own health and well being and provides them with the skills to become better people and play an active role in the positive development of their area. These benefits can be demonstrated through an increase in their health and their acceptance in their community as well as their voluntary charity work. The beneficiaries of this purpose are local young people who engage with the group. There is no harm flowing from this purpose and no private benefit Purpose 4 – To work in partnership with relevant statutory and voluntary organisations The direct benefits which flow from this purpose arise from the information, training and advice which we can provide to young people which encourages and facilitates for better cooperation networking. We believe that these links (which should include information sharing, trust, mutual cooperation and exchanges of ideas) will in turn lead to more effective community activity enable young people to deliver more benefits to their community. These benefits can be demonstrated by the increased knowledge and capacity of our group leading to a more efficient and effective organisation.
