Public benefits
The public benefits which flow from purpose 3.1 are: (i) providing young children with a comfortable, safe and stimulating environment and the opportunity to develop independence through play and learn to socialise and form friendships with other children, so making the transition to pre-school or school less stressful; (ii) giving parents the
opportunity to socialise, find mutual support and share thoughts with other parents/carers, helping to alleviate stress and anxiety and enhancing wellbeing; (iii) increasing the capacity, knowledge and skills of parents and carers, resulting in enhanced care and healthy development of young children. The beneficiaries are parents/carers and young children. These benefits can be evidenced through feedback from parents/carers, the findings of community surveys and evaluations of the work and impact of Ballyhornan Parent and Toddler Group. No harm or private benefit arises from this purpose. The public benefit which flows from purpose 3.2 is increased awareness and understanding among the public and authorities of the needs of young children and their families, leading to a better quality of life for families with young children. The beneficiaries are young children and their families. These benefits can be evidenced through the findings of social/community surveys and the responses of those authorities that have responsibilities for families with young children. No harm or private benefit arises from this purpose.
