Public benefits

MAIN PURPOSE is Advancement of Community Development. The benefit which flows from this purpose is the reaching out to all sections of the community by having functions & events that encompass everyone without distinction of age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnic identity, political or religious opinion, so that people

become more integrated & interested in what is happening round them. We have a strong team of volunteers who are cross community, work well together and deliver a great service and the diverse range of users creates a great community harmony & interaction. The beneficiaries are the inhabitants of the Glenavy area and its environs within County Antrim without distinction of age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnic identity, political or religious opinion.

What your organisation does

We hire out the premises for birthday parties, christenings & funeral hospitality. The Seniors of the area were entertained to Christmas dinner & concert, community groups such as bowls club, friendship group, Irish dancing classes & feis, yoga, modern jive, Slimming World, Glenavy WI, Credit Union AGM, Lisburn PCSP & GAC have booked the hall for

various meetings. A lot of time consuming administration is necessary, grant seeking & fundraising takes up a lot of our time. We hire out the facilities to the community & advertise as broadly as we can & are currently in the process of setting up a website. Our booking officer is kept busy with enquiries. We plan to run classes & all kinds of exercise & activities which have been requested by the public.
