Public benefits

Purpose 1: Improved relationships between home and school The benefit which flows from this purpose includes funding for additional resources for the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through having an active Home School Association that works in partnership with the school and engages parental support. The

purpose does not lead to any harm. The benefit is for the children at St Patricks Primary School Legamaddy. Charity trustees, (Committee members), are usually also parents at the school which their children attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. The benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries. Purpose 2: Advancing the education of pupils in the school The benefit which flows from this purpose includes increased educational progress and attainment of pupils in the school and links built within the local community. This is demonstrated through pupils having access to resources, activities and links with the local community which are not available through direct school funding. The purpose does not lead to harm.

What your organisation does

We are an active Home School Association made up of a group of elected parents and staff. All parents and staff are invited to share their skills and help at our events which we run throughout the school year, such as school disco's, car boot sales, sports day, pub quiz, refreshments at First Communion,Confirmation and Christmas plays. We believe

that communication is vital to maintain a healthy relationship between Home School members, the parent, staff and the wider community, and that is why we regularly publish newletters in the school bulletin. In close consultation with the principle and teachers we agree to fund a range of items and services that directly benefit the school and the children. In recent years we have purchases reading schemes for key stage 1. We have also purchased outdoor play equipment for the benefit of the whole school. We are a fundraising organisation, but an important part of our role is promoting social inclusion, community relations and proving a less formal communication channel between the parent body and the school.
