Public benefits

The trustees believe that our purposes satisfy both elements of the public benefit requirement. The direct benefit which flows from our purposes includes the improved health and wellbeing and reduction of emotional distress of the beneficiaries. Purpose (1) This benefit is demonstrated through feedback from our clients via clinical evaluations

and feedback from healthcare professionals (in particular clients’ GPs). In providing counselling services for clients suffering emotional distress there is a risk of harm through re-traumatisation however this risk is limited and the benefits outweigh the harm. The beneficiaries of this purpose are persons who are suffering emotional distress in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. Purpose (2) This benefit is demonstrated through feedback from our clients via clinical evaluations and feedback from healthcare professionals (in particular clients’ GPs). There is no harm associated with this purpose. The beneficiaries of this purpose are persons who are suffering emotional distress in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. Purpose (3) This benefit is demonstrated through feedback from our clients via clinical evaluations and feedback from healthcare professionals (in particular clients’ GPs). In providing counselling services for clients suffering emotional distress there is a risk of harm through re-traumatisation however this risk is limited and the benefits outweigh the harm. The beneficiaries of this purpose are persons who are suffering emotional distress in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. Purpose (4) The direct benefit which flows from this purpose includes the improved health and wellbeing and reduction of emotional distress of the beneficiaries and enhanced knowledge and training of counselling professionals. This benefit is demonstrated through feedback from trainees. There is no harm associated with this purpose. The beneficiaries of this purpose are persons who are suffering emotional distress in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. A private benefit to trustees (purposes 1-3) may arise from our programme of ongoing training in good governance, finance etc. Through this training trustees gain skills and experience which are transferable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries. A private benefit arises from purpose 4 for trainees in terms of improved knowledge. Through this training trainees gain skills and experience which directly facilitate the provision of services to beneficiaries. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries
