Public benefits
Purpose 1: Improved relationships between home and school The benefit which flows from this purpose includes funding for additional resources for the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through having an active PTA that works in partnership with the school and engages parental support. This purpose does not lead
to harm. The benefit is for children at St. MacNissi’s Primary School. Charity trustees (PTA committee members) are usually also parents at the school which their children attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries. Purpose 2: Advancing the education of pupils in the school The benefit which flows from this purpose includes increased educational progress and attainment of pupils in the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through pupils having access to resources, events, activities and links with the local community which are not available through direct school funding. This purpose does not lead to harm.
What your organisation does
We are an active PTA which organises social fundraising events for the families and children of the school and we actively volunteer for the school regularly helping at; schools Sports Day, promotion of school’s Open Day, refreshments at First Communion, Leavers Play and Grandparent’s Day. We also organise and volunteer at the regular events held
each year to assist with social fundraising throughout the school, together with any other events or matters to which we can support the school and the families of the pupils with the school. We run a programme of events throughout the school year, which are available to pupils, their family and friends and the wider community. Every year we run a number of big fundraisers:- our Halloween disco; Tesco bag pack and Sponsored Bounce. We vary other fundraising events from year to year, but have held, a Pub Quiz, Cake Sales, Non-Uniform Days and ‘Bags To School’ collections. We also hold a fundraising event to support our local charity. All our events are open to all visitors regardless of gifts given. Each year we design competitions for the children to develop a school calendar. In close consultation with the principal and teachers we agree to fund a range of items and services that directly benefit the school and the children. In recent years we have bought:- sound and lighting equipment for school productions, playground equipment, laptops and I-Pads for in class use. Overall we are a fundraising organisation, but an important part of our role is promoting social inclusion, community relations and providing a less formal communication channel between parent body and the school.
