The Association is established to relieve poverty and support by means of financial assistance any charitable project for the relief of poverty, financial hardship and suffering and to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the Strabane area and its environs of County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, by associating the statutory authorities, community

Financial assistance is also available to people in times of crisis such as sudden bereavements, travel costs to hospitals, fuel in adverse weather and food vouchers The beneficiaries are residents of the entire Strabane District These benefits can be demonstrated by people travelling to access medical assistance in times of need, the access to affordable clothing, furniture and household goods There is no harm flowing from this purpose (b) To promote or assist in promoting community capacity building programmes and projects for the benefit of the inhabitants within the area of benefit The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include active citizens with a raised community capacity volunteering to enable the organisation in its service provision The beneficiaries are the organisation itself and the volunteers that participate within it These benefits can be demonstrated by the creation of a greater awareness of the Social Surroundings There is no harm flowing from this purpose (c) To relieve poverty by the promotion, facilitation and organisation of adequate, accessible and quality programmes of vocational and educational training, information and support in an effort to acquire skills and retraining to assist the beneficiaries in obtaining employment The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include the provision of training and work experience in retail, management committee training and the financial sector The beneficiaries are Residents of the Strabane District These benefits can be demonstrated by the number of people upskilling, having greater self- confidence, widening their social circle and moving into employment The purpose may lead to the following harm of having to continually source new volunteers for carrying out service provision due to the fact that those upskilled or retrained beneficiaries are no longer available to volunteer after moving into employment but this harm is outweighed by the benefit provided to the beneficiaries (d) To preserve and protect the environment for the public benefit The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include the reduction in the Carbon Footprint The beneficiaries are the Residents of the Strabane District and the wider environment as a whole These benefits can be demonstrated by the creation of a greater community awareness of recycling and a greater value placed on it. It also means that less public money is spent on using landfill sites and materials are given a longer lifespan There is no harm flowing from this purpose (e) To advance any other exclusively charitable purpose as the management committee may from time to time, decide in accordance with the law of charity The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include the sustainability of the organisation and having the ability to respond to changing local needs The beneficiaries are Residents of the Strabane District These benefits can be demonstrated by the ability to adapt to the changing societal needs and the organisation continuing to be in the position to provide required services There is no harm flowing from this purpose There is no private benefit flowing from any of the above purposes
