Public benefits

The benefits flowing from purpose 3.1 include improved health and well-being, reduction in social isolation and levels of stress and anxiety. This is evidenced through the increase in number of activities provided, evaluation and general feedback. The benefits flowing from this also include improved access to services/facilities, increased number

of events organised, increased number of volunteers, raising the awareness of health and well-being in the community, including mental health. The benefits also include the provision of additional educational programmes and the partnership we have made with support agencies in this field of work. As a result there are improved living conditions and additional income from entitlements. The general public are supportive through attending our fund-raising and information events. The benefits include improved health and well-being, increased skills and knowledge and encouraging life long learning for all age groups. The social activities alleviate both social and rural isolation. Members who attend have stated how activities such as social events which include games, quizzes and information have had a beneficial impact on their health and well-being. This view is also supported by attendees immediate family members who transport the people to our events. There is no harm associated with these purposes. The Charity’s beneficiaries are those residing in the Broughshane and Braid Valley Area. Any private benefit from these purposes is incidental in terms of enhanced health and well-being, improved access to services/facilities, enhanced knowledge/capacity, reduction of social isolation and additional educational opportunities. There is no private benefit from these purposes.

What your organisation does

The Organisation is established to advance education, relieve poverty, and to promote the preservation and protection of health among older people aged 50 /55 or over and to promote the benefit of older people in Broughshane and Braid Valley. We aim to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure-time

occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for older people. Also raise awareness among the general public of the needs and experiences of older people in the area. To provide or secure the provision of educational and recreational facilities and practical assistance for older people within the area and provide, maintain and equip or assist in the provision, maintenance and equipment of premises and facilities designed to carry out the objects of the Organisation. We receive money by way of grants, donations, bequests, legacies or other lawful method. We co-operate with other voluntary groups local authorities and statutory bodies.

Charitable purposes

3.1 The Organisation is established to advance education, relieve poverty, and to promote the preservation and protection of health among older people aged 50 /55 or over and to promote the benefit of older people in Broughshane and its environs of The Braid Valley (hereinafter called the “area of benefit”) and in particular: (b) provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure-time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for older people; (c) raise awareness among the general public of the needs and experiences of older people in the area of benefit.
