Public benefits

The direct benefits to the public include raising awareness and educating about the cultural, historic and environmental significance of the Old Quarries Site at Dunfield Terrace, Derry and providing a constructive vehicle to bring together concerned and interested parties from the area and beyond to work together for the conservation and

improvement of the area for future generations, and to record its history. We will carry out evaluations and feedback surveys of all our projects and report (at least) annually on our work; these reports will be made public and distributed in the community. The purposes of this charity can lead to no identifiable harm. The intended beneficiaries are the residents of the immediate area; the wider Waterside and Derry/Londonderry community; local schools and education centres; historical, conservation, cultural, tourism and civic organisations. A possible private benefit could be income from the sales of any publications completed by the charity but this will be offset by the expenses incurred and our aim is to make our work free and accessible to all.

What your organisation does

Our organisation holds regular meetings and community sessions to share and record our history and culture ; it instigates, carries out and contributes to improvements in the area; it liaises with the voluntary and statutory agencies charged with the overall development of the greater Waterside and actively contributes to the area's emerging and

developing tourist potential. It showcases the iconic beauty of our vista on a world wide basis and aims to publish a history of Dunfield with an accompanying touring photographic exhibition and reminiscence sessions.
