The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include the provision of funds for the general well-being of the population of Northern Ireland and beyond and the specific projects supported included the advancement of health and well being of those more advanced in years and with particular disabilities. The direct out workings of support are
widespread and include indirect positive benefit to families,carers and the general public. This can be demonstrated by the projects that we support and the feedback and evaluation received.The Lorimer Trust will only make donations towards specific projects under the control and stewardship of responsible organisations to ensure good governance and accountability. In accordance with the terms of the Trust Deed The Lorimer Trust confines itself to making donations to other charitable organisations and it is through the activities of those other organisations that the public benefit is determined. The Lorimer Trust does not carry out any direct or sole charitable work other than making charitable donations to other charities registered in the UK. The aim is to support third party charitable organisations that help those most in need.Each year we support a range of organisations and our current priorities are for support for charitable organisations engaged in the advancement of health and the saving of lives,the relief of poverty in our society and the improvement of our environment. There is also a particular focus on projects which support people who are more advanced in years and in particular those with disabilities,young people,the disadvantaged,and specific culture and heritage initiatives. Additionally, financial support may be given to UK registered charities operating internationally for relief of distress arising from natural disasters,conflict and impoverishment. The direct benefits flowing from our support is the prevention and relief of poverty and the alleviation of suffering and disadvantage,and there are countless indirect benefits flowing from the activities of our partner organisations. The Trustees are satisfied that the grant aiding of other charitable bodies does not lead to harm and no private benefit is ascertainable.
What your organisation does
The Lorimer Trust is a grant making trust which derives its income from investments and which has been supporting UK Charities since 1987. The Trust will only fund registered charities with clearly defined charitable purposes. The Trustees take an active role in the assessment of applications and each application is considered on an individual
basis as to ensure public benefit and accountability. Only written applications will be considered by the Trustees.
