Public benefits

The public benefit will be through the biennial conference which offers enhanced knowledge and understanding of the poultry industry, taking examples, trends and the latest technologies from around the world and this will benefit those working within the Irish poultry industry. The benefits are demonstrated through the high and repeat attendance at

the conference by representatives of all major poultry companies in Ireland, feedback from the attendees and evaluation of the level and relevance of information provided. The purpose does not lead to harm. The benefit is for the good of the poultry industry and key decision makers to help maintain a viable poultry industry in Ireland, with access to vital information which would otherwise not be easily available. The benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries. The public benefit to students will be to encourage new entrants to the poultry industry by the offer of Scholarships and other financial support to students from Ireland in Higher Education. There is also assistance supplied to schools, in relation to the provision of materials to support and the advice given in relation to the newly offered GCSE in Agriculture which includes poultry as part of the syllabus. The purpose does not lead to harm. The benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries.

What your organisation does

The Poultry Industry Education Trust organises a two yearly conference which is attended by representatives of Irish and GB poultry companies and organisations. The one day conference provides an opportunity to disseminate the latest industry information and trends to senior management and decision makers within the poultry industry. It involves

five speakers from outside Ireland, e.g from USA and GB to update industry trends and the latest technologies. The Poultry Industry Education Trust also provides scholarships to students on Higher Education courses related to poultry production and encouraging students to enter the poultry industry by attending Careers conventions and offering presentations in Schools.
