What your organisation does

Mallusk Community Playgroup is a charity and an educational playgroup based in Mallusk, Newtownabbey which has 26 pupils per year aged between 2 years 10 months, up until a child’s pre-school year. It is the only playgroup/pre-school environment within the Mallusk/Roughfort/Hydepark area. The playgroup is more than an educational establishment it

is a community facility providing an essential service to the local community at an affordable price. The playgroup facilitates families of all communities within the area through providing a childcare facility but also pre-school nursery education and this is offered through extended hours. The facility operates from 9am-1pm, Monday-Friday and the aim is to continually enhance every child's development, self-esteem and confidence in a safe, friendly, play environment. The aim of the playgroup is helping every child develop to their full potential socially, emotionally, with confidence and through learning and provide a sound start for their move into nursery and the primary school setting. We aim to help each child to develop positive social skills, increase their health and well-being and self confidence. We promote every child's right to be strong, resilient and listened to, by creating an environment within the setting that encourages the individual to develop a positive self image. We encourage independence and positive relationships with family, peers and staff. The playgroup is staffed by 2 full time playgroup leaders and 3 part-time staff, all of which are fully qualified in their field. We run alongside the NI Pre-school guidelines.
