Public benefits

The public benefits that flow from purpose (1) are: (a) improved treatment outcomes for patients with cardiac conditions, including improved life expectancy and enhanced quality of life; (b) enhanced understanding of cardiac disease by health care professionals; (c) reduced levels of stress and anxiety among cardiac patients and their families and

friends. The beneficiaries are people suffering from congenital heart problems and their families and friends. These benefits can be evidenced by records kept by, and feedback from, members of the Belfast Trust’s Paediatric and Adult Congenital Cardiac Liaison and Clinical Teams and feedback from patients and their families and friends. No harm or private benefit arises from this purpose. The public benefits that flow from purpose (2) are: (a) enhanced opportunities and improved professional development of those intending to pursue a career in fitness training or working with people who have heart problems; (b) increased knowledge and awareness of congenital heart disease and related disabilities, leading to improved health and lifestyle outcomes. The beneficiaries are the general public. These benefits can be evidenced by detailed records kept by JT Inspires Trust of the progress of those who receive financial assistance and the findings of social and health surveys. No harm arises from this purpose. The payment of bursaries, grants or awards will confer a private benefit on the recipients, but this is necessary and incidental in advancing the charity’s purpose.
