Public benefits
Magheramason Community Development Association meets the public benefit requirement through its purposes as follows; - To advance education: The direct benefit that flows from this purpose includes linking in with other organisations and groups to provide educational outings and trips which participants would not otherwise have the opportunity to
take part in. We also advertise promote and encourage residents to attend educational courses, information and awareness sessions. We are also linking in with south west college to explore the possibility of providing essential skills training within our community. - To Provide or Assist in Providing Facilities in the Interest in Social Welfare for Health Recreation Leisure Time Occupation The public benefits which flow from this purpose do so through the provision of a wide range of projects of activities which benefit all those that participate and the wider community including ; opportunities to participate in activities which enhances the quality of life, reduces social isolation, increases skills, confidence and self-esteem and encourages active citizenship and community participation. All projects and activities are organised based on identify needs in the area. Benefits are demonstrated through feedback from participants and attendance at events and activities. Those who participate in our projects directly benefit through this engagement. The wider community of Magheramason also benefit as a result of information published in our newsletter, on our face book page and our local notice board. Magheramason is also represented on Strabane rural inter agency where issues affecting the local community are raised and addressed by the relevant agency e.g.: Housing Issues, Environmental Issues etc. The wider Magheramason community also benefit through the outcome of project run by the association e.g.: Community Garden, Planting and Estate Clean Ups, this raises the profile and image of our community in results in increase pride in our area. The Community Association promotes equality of opportunity without distinction of age, gender, race, political religious or other opinion. There is no private benefit or harm flowing from the purposes.
What your organisation does
The organisation organises arrange of social educational recreation and environmental programmes and activities. Examples of these include; • Working with NIHE to transform a piece of waste ground and area of anti-social activity into a community garden. • Holding a programme of events throughout the year e.g. Summer Garden Party, Children Fun
Day, Children’s Halloween and Christmas Parties and Know your Neighbour Events. • Linking with other organisations to provide educational trips and outings. • Providing youth diversionary programmes. • Organising local fund raising activities. • Representing the area at inter agency meetings. • Linking in with voluntary and statuary organisations to avail of and to promote opportunities for our community. • Supporting other local groups e.g. Help to establish local youth football team.

Charitable purposes
The purposes of Magheramason Community Development Association are to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Magheramason and the surrounding area with distinction of age, gender, race, political religious or other opinion, by association with statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to provide (or assist in providing ) facilities in the interests of social welfare, for health, recreation and leisure time occupation, with the objects of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants.
