Public benefits

Public Benefit – The Direct Benefits to our Beneficiaries are to advance community development and citizenship and this is demonstrated through benefits in the community to include: 1) Improved wellbeing and feeling that someone cares and can assist in times of need. 2) Awareness of Senior Citizens’ health needs and social support. 3) The

provision of a communal meeting place where Senior Citizens of our community can look forward to meeting and interacting with other Seniors in the area gaining knowledge and awareness of local pertinent issues. 4) The knowledge that their welfare is being overseen and improved upon by coming together as a collective. The Direct Benefits can be demonstrated / evidenced by the continued public membership. Despite natural wastage through death of older members our membership is still strong after 15 years. We are not aware of any harm ensuing from our Purposes. There are no private benefits directly or indirectly. No fees are charged to members and there is no means testing.

What your organisation does

We organise lectures, classes and speakers once a fortnight where the members can meet and communicate with each other. We encourage the sharing of skills and experiences. We organise local outings and several meals per year, which benefits those who live alone and may not always cook for themselves. We use community transport where possible.

We provide a wheelchair for the use of members. We try to source grants and donations to make our programme possible. Through photographs in the press and in the church hall we highlight our work to the wider community. In addition we visit and host other similar groups from time to time, again broadening awareness and interest.
