Public benefits

(a) To promote for public benefit good practice in public health and primary health care in the Derry City Council Area, across NI and cross border. Benefit: Improved practice, standards and knowledge to support health and wellbeing including mental and emotional wellbeing. These benefits are demonstrated through the number of organisations

across Northern Ireland who are adhering to service standards developed and supported through this purpose. (b) To promote the relief of poverty, hardship and distress associated with poor health for all those living or working in the area of benefit. Benefit: Relief of poverty, hardship and distress through ensuring the provision of activities for individuals living in the top 20% deprived areas of the project. These benefits are demonstrated through evaluative processes using psychometric tools. (c) To advance education relating to the benefits of good health and to the implications for all those living or working in the area of benefit of poor health amongst individuals, agencies, authorities, voluntary and community organisations, academic institutions, companies, firms and trade unions. Benefit: Improved knowledge, skills and health literacy through the provision of skills and knowledge training for families and individuals living and working within the Project Area which will assist them access appropriate health services thus improving quality of life. These benefits are demonstrated through evaluation of training programmes and information sessions. (d) To develop awareness of the role that the environment plays in public health and facilitate greater community access to green spaces. Benefit: Improved access to physical space for activity and improved environment which meets the needs of individuals within the project area across the lifespan. Improved quality of life for older people through changes to practice which meets needs identified by the older population. These benefits are demonstrated through consultation with individuals, organisations and companies within the project area. There are no private benefits to any individuals connected within the organisation other than the payment of salaries to staff which is a necessary requirement in order to provide our service and therefore incidental to the carrying out of the purposes. The beneficiaries are people living and working within the project area who experience poor health and individuals, agencies, voluntary and community organisations, academic institutions, and firms working to improve knowledge and skills, health outcomes and reduce levels of inequalities in the health of those working within the project area.

What your organisation does

Strategic 1)We manage a Health & Well-being framework that seeks to improve the health of people living in our area of benefit. We do this through collaborative action and targeting of resources to greatest health inequality. 2) We manage World Health Organisation Healthy City Designation for the Derry City Council area to improve population

health 3) We manage the Early Intervention Strategic Partnership in Derry - an interagency process to ensure evidence based early intervention practice for children and families age 0-18 4) We manage the CLEAR project- a partnership of NGO's setting standards for the delivery of community based mental health service delivery Operational 1) We support the development of population health improvement in workplace settings across Derry, Limavady & Strabane 2) We provide training in suicide awareness, mental health support, family skills support and alcohol awareness 3) We support development of community capacity to address alcohol related harm in the Western Health Trust area 4)We provide a dedicated 14 week family support programme for families at risk of harm and breakdown across the Western Health Trust area 5) We manage a process to support development of an Age Friendly Derry Strabane - a process that puts older people at the centre of designing an age friendly region 6) We manage development of an Active City Region that seeks to improve levels of physical activity, reduce obesity and improve well-being 7) We provide support to the Public Health Agency under-contract to develop standards in community service delivery and to disseminate small grants for community mental well-being programmes 8) We facilitate an advocacy programme across NI for families bereaved by suicide 9) We secure funds to provide physical activity opportunities for people with a disability 10) We host a library of free to use health resources that are loaned to local community health providers
