What your organisation does

Bogside and Brandywell Initiative (BBI) is a community based coalition of 30 community and voluntary organisations from the the Triax area, promoting social and economic justice by tackling the causes and effects of poverty and deprivation at neighbourhood level. In 2006 BBI secured funding from DSD as part of the Neighbourhood Renewal strategy in

the Triax area. The Triax Action Plan identified the need for a team to drive NR through a Neighbourhood Management approach. In 2008 BBI became responsible for the Triax Neighbourhood Management Team. The TNMT supports and delivers a range of specific actions relating to supportive, sustainable and safe communities as detailed in the Triax Neighbourhood Action Plan. Activities include community engagement, environmental improvement, community safety, enabling local people to influence policy and decision makers, sustaining active citizens and improving facilities. TNMT ensures a community development approach to its work, involving local residents, representatives and stakeholders from design to implementation. It has become clear, through experience, that projects must be identified by and secure the support of local communities and complement the work of partner organisations to have lasting impact and effect social change and regeneration
