Public benefits

Purpose 1: Improved relationships between school and home. The benefit which flows from this purpose includes funding for additional resources for the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through having an active PTA that works in partnership with the school and engages parental support. This purpose does not lead

to harm. The benefit is for children at Phoenix Integrated Primary School. Charity trustees (PTA committee members) are usually also parents at the school which their children attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries. Purpose 2: Advancing the education of pupils in the school. The benefit which flows from this purpose includes increased educational progress and attainment of pupils in the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through pupils having access to resources, events, activities and links with the local community which are not available through direct school funding. This purpose does not lead to harm.

What your organisation does

Our Parents' Council is made up of a group of elected parents and staff as well as additional parents who are recognised committee members. We meet on a monthly basis as a committee and are constantly striving to recruit more parents as members. We keep in regular contact with parents through the school's weekly newsletter. We try to ensure that

all parents feel welcome to join the Parents' Council or simply help out at events. We organise many fundraising events throughout each school year. These have, in the past included Family Fun Runs, Family Fact Trails, School Discos, Uniform Bring & Buy Sales, Breakfast with Santa mornings, Table Quizzes, a Christmas Craft Fayre, design your own Christmas card, a school calendar, Christmas hamper raffle, raffles at school productions/events, bag packing at the local supermarkets and the weekly Bonus Ball draw. These events are enjoyed by pupils, parents and staff, as well as the wider community. In addition to fundraising, we provide help and support to the teaching staff with school-run events such as Sports Day, Coffee Mornings, school assemblies etc... We have experienced tremendous support from local businesses in the past, as has been evident at our Christmas Fayre, in advertisements for our school production programmes and the most recent 10-year anniversary calendar. The PTA ultimately provide much needed funds to help subsidise school trips, new technology in classrooms, playground equipment and simple treats for the children.
