Public benefits
The public benefit provided by our purpose is ultimately the prevention of people killed or injured as a result of an accident in the home. Another public benefit of our purpose is the raising of public awareness of dangers that can exist in the home along with the provision of advice and information aimed at addressing these dangers so that the
home is a place free from accidental injuries. These benefits are evidenced through behaviour change leading to a reduction in admissions to hospital A&E departments and also through feedback from all our clients provided through evlauations at all our events. Our beneficiaries are all members of the general public and there is no harm caused to them from our purpose. There is also no private benefit to be gained from our purpose.
What your organisation does
Home Accident Prevention is a voluntary network who aim to prevent all kinds of accidents which occur in and around our homes. HAP Ballymena provides a local forum of'employer supported' and traditional volunteers including support from Environmental Health, NIFRS, PSNI, Sure Start, Ballymena Inter Ethnic Forum and local community groups. We are
committed to preventing accidents in the home across the Ballymena Borough Council area. We do this by raising public awareness of home safety issues through sharing information and advice in press releases, competitions, talks to local groups and attending information events/health fairs. We also run home safety and training events aimed at equipping the public with the knoweledge and skills on how to make the home a safer place to live. We also provide resources (e.g leaflets & posters) and run Electric Blanket testing events.
