Public benefits
a) To relieve poverty and to promote the benefit of the Resident’s of The Rectory Estate defined as : Devenagh Way / Devenagh Court / Market Road / Greenview / Deeerfin Way / Glendun Drive/ Glendun Park and Glenariff Crescent without distinction of age, gender, race, political, religious, disability, carer or non-carer, by associating the
statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education, and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure-time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants; The direct benefits which flow from purpose a) include improvement of the quality of life for those in need and reduced levels of stress and anxiety and increased mental health among those in need. The beneficiaries of this purpose are those living within the area of benefit who have been identified by friends, family or the local community as suffering from financial hardship or disadvantage. b) Promote environmental improvement and conservation by educating, encouraging and assisting the local residents and work in partnership with other groups who are statutory bodies to achieve this. The direct benefits which flow from purpose b) include improvement of the quality of life for residents, increased pride from residents in the area, increased access to training opportunities and reduced levels of stress among the local community. These benefits are evidenced via feedback from the local community and the cohesion with which the group works with statutory bodies such as the local PSNI and the Housing Executive.
What your organisation does
The Rectory Residents Association provide many public benefits in an effort to improver the health and general well being of all in the community. The list is not fully exhaustive and includes things like • Family fun days • Formation of a cross community management committee • Trips to various venues throughout N.Ireland and Scotland • Work in
partnership with statutory agencies e.g P.S.N.I and N.I.H.E • Support the Police and Community Safety Partnership • Intervention methods to reduce crime • Environmental work to keep the estate clean and tidy • Part of the North Ballymena Community Cluster • Organise luncheon clubs for senior citizens • Lobby various agencies on behalf of local residents • Organise and support Peace In The Park (annual cross community project) • In conjunction with various churches organise activities e.g Christmas Carol Service • Work very closely with Dunclug partnership on various projects • Have organised suicide awareness courses and alcohol abuse projects.
