Public benefits

1. The relief of poverty in such ways as may be thought fit. The area of benefit is an area of high unemployment and social deprivation, ranking as an area of high multiple disadvantage. Social inclusion will be promoted through developing social interaction and communication skills thereby reducing risks of marginalisation. Assistance may be given

in the provision of affordable housing to people in the area of benefit. Improvements will be sought in relation to health, education and deprivation indicators for those within the area of benefit. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include supporting individuals from economic inactivity into employment or self-employment thereby improving their standard of living. There is no harm flowing from this purpose. 2. The relief of unemployment in such ways as may be thought fit, including assistance to find employment. This includes the creation of employment, training and work experience opportunities for residents living in the area of benefit leading consequently to a reduction in poverty, unemployment and hardship and in turn providing a better quality of life for the beneficiaries and consequent improvements in their health and well-being. This includes the creation of employment opportunities by the provision of workspace, buildings, and/or land for use on favourable terms; creating a more entrepreneurial society and increasing levels of employment and self-employment throughout the area of benefit. There is no harm flowing from this purpose. 3. The advancement of education, training or retraining, particularly among unemployed people, and providing unemployed people with work experience. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include the development of employment capacity and pathways enabling the transition into self-employment or employment. Seeking to enhance knowledge about setting up and running small businesses and social enterprises resulting in increased levels of self-employment and better prospects of sustainable development. Endeavouring to Increase levels of knowledge and transferable vocational skills, assisting in the creation of a more educated, skilled and qualified community. Building a greater sense among the beneficiaries of more fulfilled and purposeful lives, resulting in a safer, more stable and cohesive community. Striving to ensure that young people in particular are better educated and informed in the areas of employability and enterprise which in turn will enhance their career prospects. This benefit can be evidenced by data on the number of people taking part in events and educational workshops and the feedback they provide. The benefit can also be demonstrated by the transition of individuals into self-employment by providing business workspace providing the beneficiaries with all of the above benefits and can be evidenced in records kept by various agencies of the number of jobs and work experience opportunities created and the numbers of those who have successfully completed any relevant training courses. Evidence can also be found in independent evaluations of the activities carried out by funding bodies and in community surveys of living standards and attitudes. The beneficiaries are the residents and businesses located within the area of benefit. There is no harm flowing from this purpose. 4. The provision of financial assistance, technical assistance or business advice or consultancy in order to provide training and employment opportunities for unemployed people in cases of financial or other charitable need through help: (i) in setting up their own business, or (ii) to existing businesses.
