Public benefits

The provision of play based education for children under statutory school age, in the Boho area, and its surrounding townlands. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include: improved learning outcomes for the children attending, plus opportunities for social integration and emotional well being. Other benefits include strong

connections with parents/carers of the children attending playschool, and links to the wider community activity in the area. These benefits can be demonstrated by feedback received from parents, detailed observations carried out by staff daily, and by the inspections process carried out by the Education and Training Inspectorate, on behalf of WHSCT. The purpose of the playgroup is beneficial to both children and their families and there is no possibility of harm. The beneficiaries of this purpose are the children who attend this playgroup and their parents/carers. There are no private benefits to persons connected with the playgroup. In the playgroup's case, the salaries paid to our three part time employees are clearly necessary in order to carryout the purposes. Any training provided to committee members eg in financial procedures, committee skills, child protection, first aid etc is necessary to ensure high standards of governance for the playgroup and any benefits incurred are incidental.

What your organisation does

Bo Peeps Playgroup was set up in 1997 by members of the local womens' group, in response to requests from rural parents for the provision of locally based pre-school education. The group is run by a voluntary committee, and is based in Boho Community Hall. Bo Peeps works closely with their Early Years advisor to enable each child to progress and

learn through play to the best of their ability. Bo Peeps is registered with WHSCT social services department and is also part of the WELB pre-school education expansion programme. Bo Peeps follow the DENI guidelines and offers children opportunities to learn through play using the six areas of learning: language, early maths, art, the world around us, music, personal, social, emotional and physical development.
