Purpose 1 – to relieve those in need by reason of youth, age, ill health, distress, disability, poverty, sickness, low educational attainment, financial hardship or other disadvantage through the provision of financial assistance, grants of money or such other charitable assistance to such charitable institution or institutions as the Committee may

from time to time decide. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include; 1. Supporting individuals in need of medical equipment , 2. Supporting individuals in poverty through the relief of poverty These benefits can be demonstrated by providing are direct benefit to individuals, indirect benefits, through the purchase of equipment for schools and clubs and the purchase of materials new buildings impacting on the wider community. The beneficiaries of this purpose are the voluntary and community sector, specifically the charitable organisations and individuals in need . Purpose 2 – to assist in the provision of facilities in the interests of social welfare for those who have need of such facilities by reason of their age, infirmity, poverty or social or economic circumstances. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include supporting children and young people in poverty by providing education facilities. These benefits can be demonstrated through building new classrooms in schools and providing the necessary equipment to support teaching the children. The beneficiaries of this purpose are Children and young people in townships in South Africa. There is no harm flowing from this purpose.

What your organisation does

The Belfast Bus Drivers Appeal Committee is a constituted body that fundraises to provide support and funding to a range of individuals and organisations both locally in Northern Ireland and overseas in countries in need such as Romania, Albania and in recent years South Africa. Locally we allow individuals and organisations to apply to the

committee for requests a broad range of things including equipment, medical equipment, toys, sport kits and guide dogs for the Blind. All of the funding we provide is of a charitable nature and targeted at those in need and the individuals or organisations must tell us why they need our funding. We support a wide range of individuals, including bus drivers and their families who need support with medical equipment, other benefericies include, RVH neo-natal unit, Chest Heart and Stroke, NI Blind centre, Click Sargent, Mitchell House School, and some small sports clubs. We have supported Willowbank Football Club, in purchasing sports gear and a range of toys and story telling packages for Daisy Lodge in Newcastle, Co Down. We are currently raising funds for our next trip to Cape Town where we recently worked with the church to build a pre-school for the township

Charitable purposes

The Association is established to advance such charitable purposes for the public benefit as are exclusively charitable according to the law of Northern Ireland in such countries as the Committee may from time to time decide](hereinafter called the “area of benefit”) and in particular to: (a) to relieve those in need by reason of youth, age, ill health, distress, disability, poverty, sickness, low educational attainment, financial hardship or other disadvantage through the provision of financial assistance, grants of money or such other charitable assistance to suchcharitable institution or institutions as the Committee may from time to time decide; (b) to assist in the provision of facilities in the interests of social welfare for those who have need of such facilities by reason of their age,infirmity, poverty or social or economic circumstances. 3.2 The Committee must pay or apply the income and capital of the Association to or for the benefit of any charity or charitable purpose in promoting the Objects as outlined above.
