Public benefits

We benefit the wider community in Larne by providing a place where people from all backgrounds can come along and engage in the public worship of God and hear the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Gospel is the good news that Jesus has defeated sin, death, and evil through his own death and resurrection and is making all things new, even us.

Through both the public worship of God and hearing of the Gospel people are continually encouraged to respond to God's greatness and love for them by living as devoted followers of the Lord Jesus Christ. Wherever the Lord Jesus commands are put into practice people become more compassionate citizens. The Lord Jesus taught his followers to love God, to love others and to even to love their enemies, to live lives of honesty and generosity and to do good to everyone they meet. Our organisation's main activity happens on Sundays. We gather for worship, prayer and teaching from the Bible. Throughout the week there are different meetings such as a ladies fellowship, youth fellowship, prayer meetings, and meetings to hear about missionary work across the world. Various community events and also put on throughout the year - football coaching for primary school children, children's clubs, sew and share community group, Friday night football for teenagers, ladies fitness walks. These benefits are (will be) demonstrated through increased attendance at public worship and new people becoming members of the church. People becoming members of the church are people who are committing to live as followers of the Lord Jesus. Both of these things have been happening in previous years. However as a faith based charity we believe that success should never ultimately be measured numerically as it is hard to quantify the spiritual, mental and emotional benefit that the public worship of God has on the individual participating. With people gathering in a public building for worship there is always the risk that people may have an accident and do themselves harm. To seek avoid this happening the building is overseen by a committee of deacons who are responsible for ensuring that the building is a safe environment. The building also has public liability insurance. The charity’s beneficiaries are those who attend public worship and the other events organised by the church. The wider community also benefits as the church’s members go out into the world and live according to the teachings of Jesus. The only private benefit flowing from this purpose is the benefit to the minister and caretaker who are paid in order to help the church fulfil its purposes.

Charitable purposes

This church exists by the grace of God, for the glory of God, which shall be the ultimate purpose in all its activities. This church will seek to glorify God by fulfilling its Biblical mission which we have summarised as follows - ‘To be a gospel centred church that lives for Jesus and like Jesus, that loves one an-other as Jesus has loved us, and that leads others to know Jesus’. We believe to achieve our mission will require prayer to God, the power of God and the willing people of God.
