Public benefits
Purpose: To provide a safe, neutral environment where contact can occur between a child and their parent or significant others with whom they no longer live. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include: relief of the emotional impact of separation due to family breakdown; the reestablishment of trust between parents and between parents
and children; increased regular contact between parent and child in a safe, structured and neutral space; parents benefit from pre contact meeting to establish ground rules and boundaries surrounding contact. These benefits will be evidenced by client evaluation sheets; through independent accreditation by NACCC (The National Association of Child Contact Centres); the number of families attending; the number of families moving on to independent contact; anecdotal evidence from Centre users; feedback from referral agencies and general research and published statistics from NI Network of Child Contact Centres. The charity’s beneficiaries are predominantly, but not exclusively, people in the Belfast and North Down areas.
What your organisation does
Knock Child Contact Centre provides a child centered, safe, neutral environment where contact can occur between a child/ children and their parent or significant other (s) with whom they no longer live, within the Knock, Newtownards and Bangor areas. We provide toys and games for children of various ages in a warm and comfortable setting. Referrals
come from Social Services, Children's Court and self-referrals. We recruit volunteers and staff to facilitate contact between parents and their children. We also promote and publicise the concept of Child Contact Centres.
