Public benefits

The benefits arising out of LCP activities include: • Less social isolation and greater involvement in the local community by offering older people access to a befriending service and day care services • Greater access to a range of services and information which will improve their health and well being through advice on diet, mental health issues,

access to benefits, advice on cancer • Enhance quality of life by socialising, getting out of the house and being involved in community activities These benefits are demonstrated by: • Annual surveys conducted with the users of the older peoples groups • Annual survey carried out with our volunteers • Evaluation of our service carries out Is there any harm? • No all activities are supervised by trained volunteers, Is there any private benefit? Yes there would be some private benefit in the training LCP volunteers received but this private benefit further enhances the community for example: If we had a volunteer who just washed up the dishes after the meal served at the Day Care service and that volunteer attended a training session on Good Governance or minute taking we would invite that volunteer to take on additional volunteering and sit on a committee. A condition the Health Trust stipulates for the delivery of the Day Care service is that volunteers are required to be trained in the following: • First aid • Risk assessment • Bus duties • Food hygiene All of this training ensures our older people are attending a Day Care Service in a safe environment.
