Friends of the Cancer Centre is a leading cancer charity in Northern Ireland. Since 1985, the charity has worked to offer support to cancer patients and their families by enhancing the quality of care they receive and contribute to cancer care, treatment and research throughout Northern Ireland. Friends of the Cancer Centre’s public benefits

are 1) The relief of sickness and the preservation and enhancement of health; and 2) The comfort and the well-being of cancer patients. In practice the Charity’s work focuses on four key areas, namely: 1) Patient Care, 2) Research, 3) Patient Comfort 4) Cancer Awareness.

What your organisation does

Friends of the Cancer Centre: 1) Provides funding for additional, specialist staff across cancer services in Northern Ireland. These include clinical nurse specialists. 2) Promotes and provides funding for research into the treatment and care of cancer patients. 3) Provides financial support and information to help people with cancer deal with

some of the challenges that come with a cancer diagnosis. 4) Provides Cancer Awareness information to empower local people to be more cancer aware and promote the importance of self-checks. To provide this vital work, the charity must raise over £2M each year through the generosity of the local community.
