Public benefits

The trustees are satisfied that both elements of the public benefit requirement are met; The beneficiaries are, directly, children in the pre-school bracket and, more widely, their parents or guardians. The direct benefits flowing to them are an enhanced learning capacity which addresses social, emotional, physical and educational needs. Without

the facility, pre-school children in the area would be at a social disadvantage moving into mainstream education. The wider benefits to parents/guardians include allowing them to continue to work; this is important considering that the area is one of resource deprivation and where a change in the financial climate has led to unemployment etc. The facility also allows for community cohesion and diversity and caters to new sections of our community including ethnic minorities. These benefits can be demonstrated through feedback from parents/guardians, external assessments, educational assessments, statistics etc. No harm flows from the purposes; the organisation has equality provisions in place and follows policies recommended by Early Years. There are no private benefits which are more than incidental; members of staff are currently employed but this is necessary in order to provide the service and fulfil the purposes.
