Public benefits

Purpose 1: Improved relationships between home and school The benefit which flows from this purpose includes funding for additional resources for the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through having an active PTA that works in partnership with the school and engages parental support. This purpose does not lead to

harm. The benefit is for children at The Cope Primary school. Charity trustees (PTA committee members) are usually also parents at the school which their children attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries. Purpose 2: Advancing the education of pupils in the school The benefit which flows from this purpose includes increased educational progress and attainment of pupils in the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through pupils having access to resources, events, activities and links with the local community which are not available through direct school funding. This purpose does not lead to harm. The benefit is for children at The Cope Primary school. Charity trustees (PTA committee members) are usually also parents at the school which their children attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries.

What your organisation does

Our PTA is made up of a committee of elected parents and staff, and members who are also parents and staff. As a group we aim to include all parents and staff in our operation. We do this by inviting parents and staff to share their skills and help at our events, for example face painting at events, or helping to provide or serve refreshments at

these events, or becoming quiz master at one of our quiz nights. We believe that good communication is the key to our PTA success and we provide regular information and updates. We also welcome feedback from all parents via open meetings. Our PTA organises a number of fundraising social events throughout the school year which are open to pupils, parents, family, friends and the wider local community. Our calendar of events includes Coffee Mornings, quiz nights, film afternoons etc. We work closely with local community businesses and the local church and welcome their support and participation at our events. The PTA agree expenditure of funds raised with the school principal to ensure the maximum benefit to all our pupils
