Public benefits
Lisanelly Regeneration Group meets the public benefit requirement by providing a wide range of activities which in turn provides a benefit to the local Gortview/Killybrack community. Members who avail of services and activities through the Community Centre benefit socially and physically through engagement, reducing social isolation and increasing
confidence in the local community. Members experience a direct benefit through this engagement at activities, social Outings, courses etc. which results in the creation of new relationships and friendships, positive thinking and sharing of experiences. Gortview/ Killybrack community benefit as a result of the Group’s production of a newsletter distributed throughout the local area, this informs residents of all activties taking place at the community centre. Lisanelly Regeneration Group also attend Housing Community Network and Inter Agency meetings were they bring forward issues happening within the local area e.g. environmental issues such as paving, lighting, anti social behaviour etc. The relevant agencies then take action and resolve the problems. Participation in the Inter-agency Forum ensures that all issues are resolved Lisanelly Regeneration Group work for the wider benefit of the community and surrounding area – the Group increases community capacity through the engagement of older people, youth, unemployed and promotes shared living restoring confidence and reducing social isolation. Lisanelly Regeneration Group promotes equality of opportunity between people as per the Northern Ireland Act 1998 section 75 based on the following nine characteristics; 1. Age 2. What your organisation does
The Group will provide or secure the provision of social services, educational, environmental and recreational facilities and practical assistance for elderly and disabled people within the area of benefit; provide or secure the provision of welfare rights advice and information and refer those in need of professional assistance to the relevant
agencies;organise or assist in organising meetings, lectures, classes and exhibitions and publish or assist in publishing reports, periodicals, recordings, books or other documents or information obtain, collect and receive money by way of grants, donations, bequests, legacies or other lawful method, provided that the Associations may not engage in any form of permanent trading;purchase take on lease or in exchange, hire or otherwise acquire any real or personal property and any right and privileges necessary for the promotion of the above objects and construct;receive money on deposit or loan and borrow or raise money in such a manner as the Association shall think fit subject to such consents as may be required by law; invest the monies of the Association not immediately required for the furtherance of the said objects in or upon such investments, securities or property as may be thought fit, subject nevertheless to such conditions (if any) as may for the time being be imposed or required by law;recruit and train volunteers with relevant skills to carry out the objects of the Association; employ and pay and person or persons, not being a member of the Management Committee referred to below (“the Committee”) to supervise, organise and carry on the work of the Association and make all reasonable and necessary provision for the payment of remuneration to employees;do all such other lawful things as may be necessary for the attainment of the above objects or any of them.
