Glenavy Youth Project (GYP) provides young people with the knowledge, understanding and awareness of him/herself as an individual and as an active participate with others. GYP aims to help all young people, in particular those who feel socially excluded, to develop their potential to the full and to build their capacity, individually and

collectively to participate in the creation of a democratic and socially just society and to meet the challenges which change inevitably brings. GYP recognises the contribution of staff/volunteers and of the potential through co-operation with others to develop and educate young people. The beneficiaries are children and youple in the age groups 8-24 years. This benefit will be demonstrated by the evaluation process through a number of tried and tested strategies such as; surveys, one to one, questionnaires, peer group analysis and a variety of feed back forms that are currently in practise. There is no private benefit or harm as a result of charitable operations.

Charitable purposes

The Association is established to advanced education and to promote the benefit of young people between the ages of 8 and 24 years of age (hereinafter called “the Beneficiaries”) in the Glenavy area and its environs of County Antrim (hereinafter called the “area of benefit”) by associating the statutory authorities, community and voluntary organisations and the inhabitants in a common effort to provide recreational facilities to develop their physical, mental and spiritual capacities that they may grow to full maturity as individuals and members of society and so that their conditions of life may be improved, and in particular: a) To maintain and manage a centre of centres or centres in the area of benefit for activities promoted by the association (hereinafter called “the Centre”).
