Public benefits

Purpose 1 To promote the benefit of the general public in the Derrykeighan and District area of County Antrim. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include promoting the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment; to advance education; to relieve poverty sickness and the aged by providing or

assisting in the provision of facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure-time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for said inhabitants. These benefits are demonstrated through feedback from the general public attending events/courses etc; written evaluations and through community surveys. There is no harm as a result of this purpose. The Charity’s beneficiaries are the general public in the Derrykeighan and District area of County Antrim. There may be an element of incidental private benefit to the trustees, for example in the case of trustee family members attending events etc we may hold. Purpose 2 To maintain and manage a community centre in the area of benefit for activities promoted by the Association The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include a safe, neutral meeting place, offering excellent facilities which can be used as a central hub for all organised community events. These benefits are demonstrated through feedback from the various users of the community centre. There is no harm as a result of this purpose. The Charity’s beneficiaries are the general public in the Derrykeighan & District area of County Antrim, or any other person who wishes to avail of the use of the hall. There may be an element of incidental benefit, for example in the event of a trustee wishing to use the hall for a private birthday party or to attend a scheduled activity.

What your organisation does

Our organisation run a number of activities. We run a weekly youth club aimed at kids aged 4-16. We run a summer scheme throughout the summer weeks. We have a bowling club which targets a broad range of ages. We have various seasonal events such as Valentine/Halloween discoes and our annual all-age Christmas party. We also run different events

throughout the year including fun days, table quizzes, cookery demonstrations etc.

Charitable purposes

The Association is established to promote the benefit of the general public in the Derrykeighan and District Area of Co Antrim (hereinafter called "the area of benefit"). Without distinction of age, gender, sexuality, nationality, ethnic origin, political or religious opinion; by associating the inhabitants and other relevant organisations in a common effort to promote the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment, advance education, and to relieve poverty, sickness and the aged by providing or assisting in the provision of facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure-time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants and in particular to: maintain and manage a centre or centres in the area of benefit for activities promoted by the Association (hereinafter called "the Centre")
