a) The public benefit is opportunity for employment for men and women. This provides income for them and their families, resulting in a decent standard of living, ability to pay for education, and health care. This is demonstrated by regular contact with the workers. There is no harm resulting from this benefit. The intended beneficiaries are the
workers and their families. b) The public benefit is the learned skill of each worker to manufacture and repair crafts. Additional skills acquired are management of the project including finances. These abilities provide the disabled workers with a sense of dignity and purpose in their lives. This is demonstrated by regular contact with the workers. There is no harm from this benefit. The intended beneficiaries are the workers and their families. c) The public benefit is the improvement of conditions of life for the workers and their families. This is demonstrated by regular contact with the workers. There is no harm resulting from this benefit. The intended beneficiaries are the workers and their families. d) The public benefit is the educational experience for volunteers of observing how disabled people in West Africa live. This adds to a sense of compassion and understanding . Another public benefit is the opportunity for exchange of ideas between volunteers and workers. This is demonstrated by reports from the volunteers. There is no harm resulting from this benefit. The intended beneficiaries are the volunteers and the workers. A private benefit resulting from this purpose is the experience gained by the volunteers. The only other private benefit for each of these purposes is that gained by the essential audit of accounts.
What your organisation does
CAHPA provides a workshop, trains and equips disabled men and women in Abidjan to manufacture crafts which they send back to Ireland for the organisation to sell. The funds raised are returned to Abidjan where the workers receive wages for the work they have done. This ensures they have a living without which they might have to resort to begging

Charitable purposes
The Company is established for the relief of poverty, the advancement of education and to promote the preservation of health in Cote d'lvoire, West Africa (hereinafter called the "area of benefit") who are suffering from the effects of adverse social and economic circumstances (hereinafter called "the beneficiaries") and in particular: a) to maintain and manage a centre or centres in the area of benefit for activities promoted by the company (hereinafter called "the Centre"). b) to train the beneficiaries in sustainable trades through teaching skills in manufacture and repair, project management and accountancy; c) to provide educational facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure-time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said people; d) the recruitment, selection and sending out of volunteers for short term service overseas.
