Public benefits
The benefits which flow from the purpose of advancing education for young people are: 1. Young people work towards developing knowledge and skills, and gaining accreditation, in their occupational choice, literacy, numeracy and ICT 2. Young people gain employability, personal and social skills, and gain accreditation in these personal development
areas. 3. Young people have the opportunity to develop their workplace knowledge, skills and experience through a structured work experience programme which may result in their progression to part time or full time employment. The benefits can be measured through a range of statistical evidence including recruitment, attendance, retention, qualification achievement and employment achievement rates. The organisation is regularly monitored against Key Performance Indicators by the Department for Employment and Learning and for quality of teaching and learning by the Education and Training Inspectorate. There is no possibility of harm to our clients, apart from minor injuries which may occur under the Health and safety at Work regulations. The benefits of gaining and sustaining employment far outweigh any possible harm. The beneficiaries of our services are young people aged 16-25 who have recently left school and are undertaking a vocational training programme, and those who are participating on government sponsored training and employment programmes. Many of our clients have additional learning and/or physical needs or disabilities. A private benefit to trustees may arise from our programme of ongoing training in good governance, finance etc. Through this training trustees gain skills and experience which are transferable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.
