Public benefits
The direct benefits flowing from purpose 2.1 include the provision of a range of activities, events, services and facilities for people in the area of benefit and the wider community which enhances their quality of life, raises self-esteem, reduces social isolation and encourages community participation. These benefits can be demonstrated through
records of the activities/programmes run through the centre, attendance at these events/courses and the value placed on these services/facilities by statutory and other agencies. The direct benefits flowing from purpose 2.2 include conditions of life for people living in the area of benefit are improved by people taking part in activities/projects/programmes provided, or which are organised and promoted through our relationships with statutory and voluntary organisations; the provision of access for local people to services which have been organised locally through our work with other agencies which they may not otherwise have had an opportunity to participate in; and by making people in our community aware of the programmes and services which are available locally and in the wider Omagh area. These benefits can be demonstrated through feedback from members of our community who have participated in activities and services, attendance records of programmes, and greater participation in activities and feedback from other organisations who have run projects and services in the area of benefit. The direct benefits flowing from purpose 2.3 include access to low cost, high quality education which participants may not otherwise have access to or engage in; the provision of accredited and non-accredited training which is affordable and delivered locally in a safe and warm environment, and the skills development of people in the local community. These benefits can be demonstrated by increased skills and knowledge and greater confidence from local beneficiaries who are more able to interact in the digital world through computer classes for example and have more positive experiences of education and learning together with friends and neighbours. Benefits can also be demonstrated by feedback from participants, other organisations, and completed evaluations and attendance records. The direct benefits flowing from purpose 2.4 include environmental improvements which have been made in our community through our work with statutory inter-agency meetings where issues are raised by group representatives and then addressed by the agencies, and through completed estate inspection toolkits from our inspections that take place annually with statutory agencies. These benefits can be demonstrated through feedback from residents on work that has been done and improvements which have been made. This encourages increased pride in our area, raises its profile and ensures the involvement of residents in improving the area in which we live. The purposes of our charity will not lead to any harm. The charity’s beneficiaries are those living in the area of benefit and the wider Omagh district. Users of the resource centre are mainly residents of the area of benefit and directly benefit through the provision of activities in a local low cost resource centre and the provision of a range of activities. The local and wider Omagh community also benefit through the Centre being used as an outreach facility by Statutory Agencies to promote health, education and environmental awareness and associated activities. The continued participation by the group in Inter-Agency meetings and estate inspections ensures that the needs of local people in the area are listened to and are channelled into decision-making processes that positively affect the quality of life in their community. This engagement also benefits the public, statutory services and the wider community. Omawest promotes equality of opportunity between people as per the Northern Ireland Act 1998 section 75. There are no private benefits flowing from the purpose.
