Public benefits

Round Tower Community Playgroup was established to offer a nurturing and quality play based learning environment for children of pre-school age in Antrim town and surrounding area. The benefits for the children are demonstrated through the developmental progress the children make during their year in playgroup. The appropriately trained staff

continually assess the children ensuring that their developmental needs are met and that they children are progressing at their individual rates. The work of the staff is monitored and assessed by the ETI inspectors, Social Services and Early Years. The committee ensures that the staff access appropriate training and that they maintain and satisfactory standard of work through support and supervision with the committee and Early Years Advisor. The possible harm in the playgroup setting can be injury to children but the staff and committee have taken all the appropriate steps to ensure that the room is safe and daily risk assessments are carried out. The committee has also adopted all the necessary policies outlined by Early Years to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the children and staff. The private benefit flowing from this purpose is that the 3 staff members are paid. The committee have ensured that the pay awarded is in-line with the Early Years guidelines for qualification and length of service.
