Public benefits

It is the responsibility of the Elders of the Church, through the teaching Elder, i.e. the Minister, to provide an education of the Old and New Testaments of the Bible to the general public living within the local area of Ballyhemlin and surrounding district. The benefit that this will provide is that it will bring people to a living awareness of

Christ as Head of our Church. People will become aware of the teachings of the Bible and the love of God and this knowledge will enrich their daily lives. Coming together as a congregation to worship will also be of benefit to those feeling isolated or living alone. These benefits are evidenced through our increasing church membership, as reported in our Annual Report. There is no risk of harm to anyone, as everyone who attends, does so at their own freewill. There are private benefits to our Minister, who receives a salary, and the church organist who are paid a small nominal fee. These private benefits are necessary to carry out our purposes and are therefore incidental.

What your organisation does

We meet for the public worship of God, in the spirit of Jesus and as dicsiples of Christ to preach the word of God, in accordance with the Constitution, Code of Discipline and regulations of the Non-Subscribing Presbyterian Church of Ireland. To promote the Christian faith within the community of Greyabbey and district without the requirement of

Minister, Elders or members to subscribe to a doctrinal statement of faith as a condition of church membership. To offer the Sacraments of Baptism and the Lord's Supper (Communion) in accordance with the Constitution. We help those in need within denominational charities of the Non-Subscribing Presbyterian Church and support Youth Organisations within the local community. We support the wider community life, through the maintenance of good relations with other church traditions and local community groups. Support is also given to many other charities within N Ireland and further afield.
