Public benefits

Horn Drive Drop-in Centre works in an area which is part of the Lenadoon/Suffolk interface, the direct benefits which flow from our purposes include the provision of safe and secure facilities for the young people of the area which assist them in moving away from cross-community violence and the risk of becoming involved with the courts and

criminal system which was a regular occurrence, improved social wellbeing through community events, a greater sense of citizenship and community, e.g. through local clean-ups and seeking to make ‘role models’ of the older members, improved education through courses, e.g. youth work courses with BELB and the provision of social trips and other activities. The direct benefits can be demonstrated through fewer media reports of, for example, rioting on the interface between Lenadoon/ Suffolk and reductions in crime and anti-social behaviour seen in PSNI reports. No harms should arise from these purposes and there is no foreseen private gain – any arising will be unintended and incidental to the benefits. Beneficiaries, directly, are the local youths but more widely residents in the area as a result of decreased trouble.

What your organisation does

It gives a outlet for Children and youth of the Area to mix and get to know each other to keep them of the streets away from trouble as we are an interface area and over the years have had Sectarian riots ,we offer a way out by taking part in activities away from this kind of conflict.
