The Direct Benefits which flow from the first purpose include the provision of educational opportunities for those with learning disabilities, the

gaining amongst the beneficiaries gain of increased self esteem and self determination as well as opportunities for social interaction, development of communication, concentration and performance skills. The Direct Benefits which flow from the second purpose include the gaining, by the beneficiaries, of increased independence, development of social skills and opportunities to learn and develop new skills. The Direct Benefits are capable of being demonstrated, proven or evidenced by consistent parent/carer meetings, Student Council, multi disciplinary team meetings, showcase events, research in conjunction with the UU, person centred planning achievements and SMART goals met. Something Special see no harms arising from the purpose. Private benefits to unintended beneficiaries are incidental to the carrying out of the purposes, ie the organisation employs a small number of qualified and highly skilled staff to carry out the purposes. Fees are more of a donation by the beneficiaries' families demonstrating their support for the organisation and assisting with costs. The poor are never excluded, even if they are unable to make a donation.

What your organisation does

Something Special advances education amongst young people and adults with learning disabilities. The organisation places huge emphasis on music and creativity as tools for learning and development. Showcase events to communities and audiences are high priority as these type of events helps to break down barriers and highlight the skills, talents

and potential of the client group. Something Special raises awareness of learning disability in a positive light among the general public, who often are keen to volunteer or support the charity.
