Public benefits

Purpose - To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the Laurencetown Lenaderg and Tullylish (LLT) Area without distinction of sex, race or political, religious or other opinions by advancing education and providing facilities in the interest of social welfare for recreation and other leisure time occupation with the object of improving the

conditions of life for the said inhabitants. The direct benefits that flow from this purpose include improved health and wellbeing of all people in the LLT area; provision of services and facilities to allow our young people to play in a safe and mutually respectful environment and to interact positively on an intergenerational basis; provision of a varied programme of activities to facilitate social interaction, increased recreational opportunities and encourage life long learning; services for older people in our community with a view to improving their health and wellbeing and maintaining their independence; an area that is attractive and somewhere people are proud to live. Beneficiaries are, in the main, inhabitants of Laurencetown, Lenaderg and Tullylish but there are those from further afield who partake in specific activities such as our weekly elderly day care and weekly activities for young people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Benefits are demonstrated in our annual reports; through regular monitoring and evaluation reports to our funders; by an increase in centre footfall; by word of mouth and written feedback from satisfied participants; by regular press releases sent to local newspapers; through reporting in our quarterly newsletter that is delivered by hand to over six hundred local households. The purposes of our charity are only beneficial, not harmful, and none offer any deliberate private benefit. However a private benefit to trustees may arise from our programme of ongoing training in good governance, finance etc. Through this training trustees gain skills and experience which are transferable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.

What your organisation does

Currently these include: • A 4 year Big Lottery funded project seeking to support both local young people engaging or at risk of engaging in criminal activity; and young people with ASD who have disengaged from education. • A thriving parent and toddler group offering advice and support and helping to address rural isolation. • An after-schools

youth club offering local children of primary school age the opportunity to play in a safe and mutually respectful environment. • Activities for our older people: including our older men’s bowling group which operates every Monday morning; monthly story-telling sessions; and an arts and crafts class. • A bi-weekly over 50’s Luncheon club delivered every Monday and Wednesday from 12.30 - 2.00. • The Out and About Group: A group of retired individuals who plan and organise monthly excursions for their peers. • The Olde Thursday Group: A day-care project delivered every Thursday in partnership with the Southern Health and Social Care Trust. • Funding and Governance Support for Affiliated Groups: Since March 2010, the Community Association has also supported a number of local groups with fundraising, programme development and governance issues, including: The Lenaderg Women’s Institute, The LLT Women’s Group, The Tullylish Historical Society and The Laurencetown Pre-School Playgroup.
