Public benefits

Purpose A) The benefits that flow from this purpose include provision of a safe recreational facility which can be accessed freely by people of all ages and abilities within the rural community of Kilcronaghan and surrounding areas. This facility provides a base in which local people can meet and engage in a range of educational programmes which

help to develop skills, knowledge and capacity within the local community. The benefit of this extends to local people being able to fully identify their needs and allow them to develop local solutions to improve the quality of life for people living within the community. It also benefits local people as they will have increased knowledge and ability to engage with key statutory, community and voluntary organisations that can help support the organisation in furthering its charitable purposes. This helps the area tackle issues around rural isolation, poverty and deprivation. Our work creates a space in which people can meet in a safe environment and has positive implications for the physical, mental and emotional well-being of local people. This contributes to a healthy, vibrant and sustainable community. All of our work can be demonstrated by monitoring and evaluation of our work to determine the type and level of impact. This includes speaking with our beneficiaries, requesting oral and written feedback and carrying out pre and post project evaluations. There is no harm flowing from this purpose. The primary beneficiaries of our work are people of all ages and abilities within the and surrounding rural hinterland. There is no private benefit which flows from this purpose. We have identified only an incidental benefit which is where Trustees and volunteers are provided with training opportunities in terms of governance, project management and fundraising. This may have positive benefits for the personal and professional development of trustees and volunteers. This is however critical to their role within the charity and ultimately benefits the users of our service. Purpose B) The benefits that flow from this purpose include the dissemination of important Christian principles such as showing dignity, respect and courtesy towards all human beings, irrespective of sex, gender, age or social status. By disseminating these Christian principles it promotes and encourages a tolerant society in which all human beings are treated equally and with respect. It encourages a peaceful society in which people live side by side, free from intimidation and threat of violence. It encourages a society in which people are willing to forgive and seek forgiveness. It promotes a society in which people are encouraged to think of those less fortunate and do everything possible to support those less fortunate. We can demonstrate this by the way in which people we engage with conduct themselves within the local community. We observe people who demonstrate Christian principles and espouse the ethics and values through which they learn and develop through our engagement. There is no harm flowing from this purpose. The primary beneficiaries of our work are people of all ages and abilities within the and surrounding rural hinterland. There is no private benefit which flows from this purpose. Purpose C) Whilst we have covered the core focus of our work in the other purposes, we do foresee occasions where we need undertake some small pieces of work that reflect the diverse and changing needs within the local community. This means that we may need the flexibility of having a purpose which gives us some freedom to respond to that need. At all times we will ensure that this work is exclusively charitable. Although we have not yet operated under this clause, we believe that in an ever changing social, economic and cultural environment, it is important that we retain the ability to respond to our beneficiaries [Further information available by contacting the Charity Commission for NI]
