What your organisation does
Friends of Exploris Trust started at the end of September 2013 when a few people decided to make a stand against the proposed closure of the Exploris Aquarium in Portaferry by Ards Borough Council. These people were motivated by the aquarium’s huge marine conservation and education importance, its vital role in the local economy and a desire to
secure the future of Exploris for the children we have now and for generations to come. “Friends of Exploris Trust” consists of a group of volunteers who have pooled their professional skills and marine experience to continue the campaign to keep this world class aquarium safe so that future generations can enjoy and be inspired by it and its marine life.
