Public benefits
The organisation meets the public benefit by offering services to senior citizens of an educational, recreational and community development nature. The public benefits flowing from our purposes are that individuals many of whom live on their own in relative isolation can come together for social purposes to share reminiscences, enjoy light snacks
and meet up with other like-minded people of a similar background from different parts of the council area. Members benefit from a range of activities organised by the committee, they have talks from statutory agencies such as, Falls Prevention, Local council officials, health practitioners. Members can also avail of flower arranging classes, craft classes, healthy cooking demonstrations and other similar activities. These talks provide education for members and help them to better look after their own health and the health of their families. The benefits can be measured by the numbers of people attending group activities and feedback sheets which we regularly ask members to complete at the end of each activity. There is no potential harm in any of these activities and no private benefit. Members are able to participate in social outings at least six times per year. We also organise a group holiday each year where members save throughout the year towards an annual group holiday. These outings and holidays help people to prevent social isolation and encourage them to be active, meet other people, learn from other people and permits them to form new friendships and thereby understand their own lives and the lives of others. The benefits will be measured by the numbers attending and the evaluation sheets that we collect after each outing, these sheets indicate to us what benefits people have gained and also advise us on how to organise future activities. There is no private benefit from any of these activities and no harm flowing from them. Members have the opportunity to participate in light fitness activities and recreational dance, this in turn makes members feel more healthy, it keeps them fit and offers them an enjoyable recreational activity that they can participate in no matter what age they are. We measure the benefits by the numbers attending and the evaluation sheets at the end of these activities. There is no private benefit of any kind and no potential for harm.
What your organisation does
The organisation rents premises thereby providing a meeting place where members can come together once a week to socialise, attend talks, take part in courses or general recreational activities. We also organise group holidays and social outings to places of interest. We also provide opportunities for members to participate in light fitness
exercises and dance.
