To encourage and develop birdwatching throughout Northern Ireland. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include the nonmaterial benefits that people obtain from ecosystems through spiritual enrichment, cognitive development, reflection, recreation, and aesthetic experiences. These include wellbeing, satisfaction, and improved
health. These benefits are demonstrated through feedback from members at the Club Annual General Meeting and Members’ night. No harm flows from this purpose. The charity’s beneficiaries are anyone who wishes to attend an indoor meeting or field trip. No private benefit flows from this purpose. To promote conservation and active participation in conservation projects The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include the benefit to the environment and the direct public benefits which come from an improved natural environment, namely improved health and wellbeing. These benefits are demonstrated through evaluation of conservation projects. Evaluations are carried out by the Ballymena Birdwatchers Club and by independent evaluations of our conservation projects which received external funding. No harm flows from this purpose. The charity’s beneficiaries are anyone who utilises the natural environment in Northern Ireland and enjoys watching birds and wildlife in the natural environment. No private benefit flows from this purpose. To promote safe and responsible birdwatching and respect for others and the environment within our membership. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include: learning how to stay safe and reduce risks whilst enjoying nature; developing tolerance and respect for others and learning to care for the environment. These benefits are demonstrated through feedback from members at the Club Annual General Meeting and Members’ night. No harm flows from this purpose. The charity’s beneficiaries are members of the Ballymena Birdwatchers Club and their friends and family. No private benefit flows from this purpose.
What your organisation does
Ballymena Birdwatchers Club organises a series of indoor talks in a public venue in Ballymena and a programme of field trips to watch birds both locally and abroad. We also carry out conservation projects, such as installing a breeding tern raft on Lough Beg. We organise some social activities for members such as an annual BBQ and dinner.
