Public benefits
The purposes of Sightlines are the advancement of the arts and culture by making arts and culture accessible to a wider audience and the relief of those in need by reason of disability. The public benefits flowing from these purposes are • an enhanced quality of life for blind people • more social opportunities for blind people with their
families and friends • increased mental and creative stimuli for blind people • increased pleasure for blind people, their families and friends • a more inclusive environment at cultural performances. These benefits will be demonstrated through regular meetings with blind people who will give feedback on their response to the service. This purpose does not lead to harm. The charity’s beneficiaries are blind and visually impaired people of all ages, their families and friends. The only private benefit to trustees is a possible enhancement to their Curriculum Vitaes through their involvement with the organisation and experienced gained. However, this benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the organisation can achieve its purposes.
What your organisation does
Sightlines prepares and delivers descriptions of the visual element of live arts events privately through the use of technology, delivering the prepared script through a headset to the individual. Sightlines arranges feedback from the blind audience members and works to satisfy their service users by responding to this feedback.
