Public benefits
Advancement of Education We support the provision of education, whether formal or vocational, at any academic level, to those who would not otherwise be in a position to receive same. In furtherance of this aim, we fund education in primary and secondary schools across the developing world and sponsor young people to receive third level education.
We also sponsor church pastors to undergo teaching and training, both in the developing world and in Ireland. The benefits which flow from this purpose are: (i) The moral and intellectual development and enhancement in knowledge and understanding of individual beneficiaries (ii) An improved sense of wellbeing and increased self-esteem of individual beneficiaries as they develop new skills, capabilities and knowledge. These benefits will be evidenced through better examination results and progression to further studies, with beneficiaries ultimately equipped to enter into employment. The beneficiaries are those who would not otherwise have access to education, both in developing nations and at home. Advancement of Health or the Saving of Lives We provide funding to support the provision of healthcare services, in whatever form may be appropriate, to those deprived of such provision by their economic circumstances. The benefit which flows from this purpose is the improved health and welfare of individual beneficiaries. There is also a wider benefit to communities and society in general in having a healthier population. These benefits will be evidenced through the restoration to health of those who are ill, a reduction in disease and mortality rates and a general improvement in health and welfare. The beneficiaries are those in need of basic healthcare services, primarily in developing nations but not exclusively. The Prevention or Relief of Poverty and Relief of those in Need We aim to support those in need firstly by assisting in immediate famine relief and secondly through the implementation of sustainable development projects in agricultural production. With regards to immediate famine relief, we provide clothing and food which are sent via containers to countries in the developing world. As for sustainable development projects, these allow families and communities to produce food and become self-sustaining. Some examples of previous sustainable development projects include the provision of fish ponds, chicken houses and poly-tunnels. We also provide information and advice with regards to our projects and how these should be managed for the longer term. The benefits which flow from this purpose are the alleviation of hunger, the relief of poverty through the provision of clothing, food and sustainable development projects, and the improvement of basic nutrition leading to improved health and welfare. These benefits will be evidenced through a reduction in disease and mortality rates and a general improvement in health and welfare. The beneficiaries will be those living in poverty or deprivation, primarily in developing nations but not exclusively. Advancement of Community Development We seek to assist in the regeneration of communities though the provision of funding for projects which support physical, social and economic improvements at community level. As outlined above, we provide funding to support the provision of education, healthcare services and the relief of poverty. The benefits which flow from this purpose are (i) The encouragement of individuals to be good citizens, taking care of the environment and community in which they live (ii) Improved community life as individuals join together to work on sustainable development projects. The beneficiaries will be individuals within communities throughout the world who benefit from projects sponsored by us. We do not consider there to be any private benefit flowing from any of the above purposes. We do not anticipate that any harm will flow from any of the above purposes.
What your organisation does
We receive funds from donors which we then pass on to existing charities and non governmental organisations working in the areas of heath, education and rural development in developing nations in response to specific requests received for funds for well defined projects that fulfil our funding criteria. All the projects we fund are personally
selected by the trustees and have a proven track record in their field of expertise so that we can be sure that the monies go to the intended beneficiaries. We also provide professional help and advice on agricultural rural development, primary education, and primary health care. As part of this we visit a selection of the projects to give assistance and to audit the funds provided.
