Public benefits
The direct benefits which flow from the primary educational purposes of ‘enhancing the education and development of young people’ and ‘offering play facilities, with the right of parents/carers to take responsibility for and become involved’ include improved social skills and educational attainment as well as more confident children who demonstrate
self control and reasoned decision making skills, a development of the personal, social and emotional capacity of each child to allow them to better integrate into society and that primary schools will receive children who have the skills required to settle quickly into the new school environment. We measure this benefit through termly parental & child feedback forms, personal observations and assessments by staff and from external evaluations from ETI Inspections and Social Services Inspections, and also evaluations from our Early Years Advisor. The direct benefits which flow from the community orientated purpose include improved community input to local education and an improved reputation of a safe environment encouraging parents to send their children to a recognised centre of high achievement. We measure this benefit by the interest the parents have shown in joining our management committee, fundraising committee and by coming into the setting to share their skills and interests. Through our fundraising events we attract support from the wider community. Our setting has a strong connection with the Laurencetown, Lenaderg and Tullylish Community Association which is based in our building, and through this we have links with their Parent & Toddler Group, After School’s Groups and the Olde School Group which comprises of older members of the community all of which forms a major part of our Intergenerational programme. There are no harms arising from our purpose. There are private benefits to paid members of staff only as a necessity to deliver our purpose. There is a voluntary contribution at the beginning of the year of £20 towards insurance, and Early Years Membership, and also a voluntary contribution of £3 per week towards the cost of daily snacks.
