What your organisation does
We want to develop an atmosphere where our members can engage with the programmes, courses, activities, services and classes based mutual respect, humility and friendship. We all understand the suffering and pain many have directly experiences which has arisen as a direct result of bereavement, injury or trauma as a direct or indirect consequences
the ‘Troubles.’. We assist the individuals, families and communities affected by addressing and reflecting on their personal experiences of hurt, loss and trauma, allowing them to communicate with others, support each other’s, seeking truth, justice, recognition, and acknowledgement. The organisation provides opportunities for reflection and remembrance to allow members to deal with the past. Our organisation centres the work it does on a community based drop in facility which is designed to allow members to have a chat become informed of our emotional support, counselling, welfare and befriending services. A more medium term approach to the development of our members requires capacity building, acquisition of new skills and professional services to deal with issues from the past. The outcome is to allow our members to have a greater sense of belonging and identity, feeling included in society. The educational, creative, arts, therapy and lifestyle courses will help to educate our members, move them from isolation at home to being part of a social group and become a more valued member of society. This organisation feels empowered to educate and raise public awareness of the effects of the ‘Troubles’ and sectarian violence. Our organisation may develop any other programmes, events, courses, classes or themes as deemed charitable by our board of directors and in accordance with charitable Law relating to Northern Ireland.
